Roy Sidney Williams Jr. 1945-2024
Sid passed away peacefully at his home in Wendell, NC, on April 3, 2024, at the age of 78.
Sid was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend throughout his community. Sid was originally from Emporia Virginia, where he spent his youth and early adult life. He later spent time in the U.S. Army until meeting and marrying his soulmate Brenda K. Braswell and moving to Wendell, North Carolina, in 1974.
After retiring from United Parcel Service, Sid could be found at Wendell County Club, Fleet Fuels, or hunting in Emporia. but mostly at Wendell Country Club. Sid was an original shareholder of Wendell Country Club. Sid greatest passion in his life was to watch his grandson Charlie play baseball. He would study Charlie's schedule in anticipation for Charlie's next game. He never missed a game regardless of weather, location, or his own health.
Corinth Holders Baptist Church always held a special place in Sid's heart. Sid routinely attended church, and would serve as a deacon for Corinth Baptist Church.
Sid was proceeded in death by his father Roy, and his mother Mary Katherine. He is survived by his wife Brenda, son Jason, daughter-in-law Lee, grandson Charlie, sister Linda, brother Joey, and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed, but his love for his family and friends will remain forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sid's honor to Corinth Baptist Church or Independence United Methodist Church in Emporia Va.
A celebration of life event will be held in Sid's honor at a later date.
