David Jonathan Jones

ROCKY MOUNT – David Jonathan Jones, 46, of Rocky Mount, passed away February 8, 2026. David lived his life always on the go. If he wasn't in the office/shop at New Vision Metal Works or traveling on the road to a job site, you would find him outside always doing something. He would either be at the shooting range, hanging out in his garage watching expert shooters or Police body cam videos, texting "The Shooters" about the latest handgun, or in the yard ensuring that he had the greenest grass in Rocky Mount.

The biggest memory anyone will ever have of David is the way he ate. Stories that have been shared with his family always include his love of McDonald's french fries (only the top half of the container), IHOP Short stack with fries, hot dogs (Ball Park Beef Franks only), Bologna, Kraft mild cheese, Potato Chips, peanuts, ice cream, and his enormous sweet tooth. He kept candy stashed everywhere.

David loved handguns and took great pride in his abilities and the weapons he owned. When time allowed, he enjoyed being able to go to the outside shooting range with friends. As head of security at his church, Living Faith Fellowship, David would use those skills on Sunday mornings to ensure everyone was safe and protected.

Born November 21, 1979, to and then preceded in death, his father, Donald Allen Jones, mother, Helen Ida LeBarron Jones, grandparents, Frank and Helen LeBarron, and also father figure and mentor, Donald Ray Hunter.

David's life will be remembered by his wife and partner of 24 years, Lisa Tanner Jones; daughter, (his "Turtle") Mallory Jones; son, Jonathan Jones and fiancé, Kalee Mayo; brothers, John Jones (Chris Stevens) and Timothy Jones (Diane); his in-laws, John Russell and Elsie Tanner, Rusty Tanner (Kristi), and Whitney Tanner (Rick); and nieces and nephews, Amaya, JT, Jakolby, Destiny, Aidan, Gabriel, Xaiver, Bruce, Chesney, Van, Arissa, Makayla, Tyrone (Marisol), and Zoe.

In addition, his work family, Ronnie and Kelly Butler, and a special mention, Jennah Taylor.

And of course, his faithful "Huntin' Dog" and ice cream eating companion, Milo.

Memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, February 13, 2026 in Rocky Mount, NC at Living Faith Fellowship Church, officiated by Pastor Ramon Mizell, located at 1090 West Mount Rd. Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 6:45pm prior to the service.
