Ruben Diaz, 94 of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The family of Mr. Diaz will host a memorial service on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Ruben was born on June 19, 1931, in Alamo Ranch, Texas to Guadalupe Diaz and Ernestine (Solis) Diaz. He was a private in the US Army from 1950-1954. He married Manuela Martinez, on January 19, 1960.

Ruben was an active Sacred Heart Catholic Church member who served in various ministries, including Cursillista, Knights of Columbus, The Legion of Mary, The Good Shepard, a program for the elderly in the church, and the Charismatic Movement. He helped in fundraisers, led bible studies, taught Baptismal and marriage preparation classes, and was a communion minister, lector, and apostolic worker.

Ruben is survived by his wife, Manuela Diaz; his children: Tina Rodriguez (Eddie) of Plainview, Arthur Diaz of San Diego, CA Veronica Sanchez of Plainview, Lisa Hood (Mark) of Fort Smith, AR, Ruben Diaz, Jr. (Stephanie) of Plainview, Rachel Diaz of Lubbock, Daniel Diaz of Pampa, David Diaz, and Rebecca Diaz both of Plainview; Carlos Diaz, Oralia Diaz, Delia Ornelas (Joe), Nora Tapia (Angel), all of Odessa; thirty-seven grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren, and seventeen great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by two sons, Porfirio Diaz, and (1st) Ruben Diaz, Jr.; his parents, Guadalupe and Ernestina Diaz; brothers, Eusebio Lechuga, Lolo Diaz, and Jesus Garcia; sisters, Valvina Diaz, and Maria Elena Garcia.
