Ruben D. Gaona, born on February 8, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on February 7, 2025, at his home in South Chicago. He lived a life rich in love and commitment, always surrounded by family and friends who cherished him deeply.
Ruben was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Linda Gaona (nee Matos). Together, they nurtured a warm and welcoming home, filled with laughter and unforgettable memories. As a father, he instilled values of hard work and compassion in his children, Peter Gaona, Michelle Gaona and Ruben Gaona. His pride in them was evident in every conversation, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Ruben's legacy continues through his beloved grandson, Jacob Mosqueda, who brought him immense joy during his life. The bond they shared was as special as it was strong, highlighting Ruben's warmth as a grandparent.
He was also dearly loved by his siblings, Susan Gaona, Nancy Perez and Robert Gaona, who held a close connection to him throughout his life. Ruben's family extended beyond immediate relatives, as he had many nieces and nephews who were touched by his kindness and mentorship.
Though he experienced the loss of his brother, Peter Gaona, Ruben's memories of their time together remained a cherished part of his life narrative, reflecting the bond of brotherhood that endured even in Peter's absence.
Ruben will be remembered not only for his loving nature but also for his strength and resilience. His spirit and values will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, forever guiding them as they navigate their own lives.
