Ruben was born February 9th, 1934, in Salyersville, Kentucky, the son of the late Boyd Howard and Vinnie (Montgomery) Howard. On April 13 1955, he was united in marriage to Opal Faye (Jenkins) Howard, who survives.
He is also survived by his two daughters, Darlene (Bill) Isaac and JoAnn (Jamie) Steffy; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Chelsea, Casey, Ruben, Darla, Audra, Carey, and Brian. Seventeen great-grandchildren, Preston, Parker, Levan, Scarlett, Joey, JB, Hayden, Amara, Carter, Gage, Wyatt, Jasmine, Levi, Luke, Kiley, Lexi, Talon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Joey (Jennie) Howard, two brothers, Arnold Howard and Avril Howard; and sister Lahoma Mann.
Ruben was a devoted husband of 70 years and leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Their love was an example of lasting commitment and those who knew him could see the deep love he had for his wife. His life was centered around his family, from his children, grandchildren, to his many great-grandchildren. He was a member and ordained deacon of Morgans Fork Church, where he faithfully served as treasurer for 16 years. He worked as a skilled carpenter with Local #200 for 39 years. He loved spending time outdoors, farming, caring for animals, and going to his favorite restaurant, McDonalds. His love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio with Elders Avril Murray Jr. and John Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Bailey Chapel Cemetery Piketon, Ohio.
The Family will receive friend from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Tuesday November 4th, 2025, at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio.
