Ruben Morris Humberson

Ruben Morris Humberson, 84, of Patterson Creek, WV, went to be with the Lord February 6, 2025, at UPMC-Western Maryland.
Born December 21, 1940, in Friendsville, MD, he was the son of the late Charles Morris Humberson and Rubena (Lowdermilk) Humberson.
Ruben was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Stanton, Richard "Dick," Wade, Ward, and Harold Humberson; six sisters, Ramona Campbell, Dorothy Workman, Emogene Farthing, Lavona "Patty" Shaheen, Lois Humberson, and Virgina Pomplas; five half-brothers, Raymond, Charles, and George Thomas, Orval and Charles Humberson; and three half-sisters, Helen Lohman, Ruth Franks, and Audra Humberson.
Ruben attended barber school in Baltimore. For the next 50 years he operated his own barbershop in LaVale and Cresaptown.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing with "Red" Fisher and Bob Holler. Ruben was on the Duck Pin Bowling League He enjoyed woodworking and restored furniture. He also spent time tending to his garden. His biggest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends.
Ruben attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Patterson Creek.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Shirley (Miner) Humberson; two children, Charles "Chuck" Humberson and wife Darla, and Laura Chaney and husband Dale; grandchildren, Heather Chaney and Mitch, Derek Humberson and Misty, Brittany Stickley and Travis, Tyler Humberson and Brittany, and Karly Amick and Nick; great grandchildren, Kinsley, Drake, and Brogan Humberson and Harper Stickley; and, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, on Friday from 4-7 PM
The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Saturday at 1 PM, with Pastor Rita Beeman officiating. Pastor Bob Lowell and Pastor Ann Merkel will also participate in the service. Friends will be received from noon until 1 PM.
