Ruby Dell Brewer Hughes

Ruby, age 79, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, September 15, 2023. She was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Ruby was a dedicated member of Istrouma Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, bowling, and even learned how to cane chairs. Ruby had the biggest heart, was all about her family and made sure they stayed connected. From hosting monthly family dinners, to composing the family newsletter, she went above and beyond for the ones she loved. Ruby never missed a chance to spend time with her family and was the happiest she could be when surrounded by as many as possible. She was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet, with the kindest soul. Ruby was the embodiment of love and will be deeply missed.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Regina LeBlanc, Connie Gassiott (Kevin); siblings, Merlean Rockco (Willie), Peggy Bond, Billy Brewer (Sandra), Rachel Nethery (Bill), Joan Babin (Curtis), Jean Massey; grandchildren, Autumn Penalber (Cody), Brandon LeBlanc, Carlyn LeBlanc, Drew LeBlanc, Dale Wooley, Elizabeth Wooley; great-grandchildren, Aubree Penalber, Tucker Penalber, Rilynn Penalber, Dawson Penalber, Ian Wooley, and Isabella Wooley; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frenie and Clidie Brewer; brother, James Brewer; sisters, Thelma Walley, Annie Milholen, Bertie Ladner, Audrey Bundy, Catherine Sanford; and grandson, LCpl Christopher Wooley, USMC.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 7738 Florida Blvd. Denham Springs, LA 70726 on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Her nephew, Dennis Brewer will officiate.
