Ruby Cobb

Ruby Cobb, age 97, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Chautauqua Nursing Home in Daviess County.
Ruby was a strong Christian woman. She was active in her church membership and raised her children in the church as well. Ruby and her husband Mitchel had five children and she spent her days raising them and caring for their home. She relied on the Lord, day by day and even moment by moment; always praising Him "Thank you, Jesus" and "Praise the Lord". These were words she said often as she rocked in her chair; quietly praising Him. When the children were grown and settled in homes of their own, Ruby and Mitchel became like gypsies, travelling around the country to visit them. In her final years, Ruby enjoyed her years at Colonial Assisted Living. She always had a smile on her face, and she made sure everyone knew she loved them. Ruby's greatest joy came from those who called her "Mamaw" as the treasured matriarch of her family. She was loved by so many, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Paul and Sally Bumpus, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Mitchel Cobb, Sr., daughter Carolyn Roach, and siblings: R.L. Bumpus, Edna Beck, James Bumpus, Ray Bumpus, Virginia LaPlante, Johnny Bumpus, and Maylou Bellew.
Ruby is survived by daughters Cindy Fickey of FL and Tessa Truhn of TX; sons Mitchell Cobb, Jr. and Dannie Cobb both of CA; brother Larry Bumpus of KY; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to Ruby's Life Celebration from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
