Ruby Hannans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Royal Funeral Home, Inc. - Jesup on Jan. 26, 2026.
Following a brief illness, Ruby Lee Hannans of a blessed 92 years of age transitioned from her earthly home to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Hospice Satilla of Waycross, Ga. She was born on September 24, 1933 to the late, Lloyd and Mary Hamilton, Sr. in Tarboro, Ga. and was educated in the public school system of Camden County, Ga. At an early age Ruby accepted the Lord as her personal Savior under the leadership of Bishop Nick Hightower, Sr. She was a lifelong member of Jerusalem Holiness Church, House of God Saints in Christ, Inc.

On February 16, 1952 Ruby met and was united in holy matrimony to the late, Henry Lawrence Hannans and to this union (10) children were born. Her years of employment included Kings Shrimp Inc. in Brunswick, Ga. for over (15) years and she then tapped in on her passion of cooking and that granted her positions as a cook at several restaurants stemming from a local diner in town to Holiday Terrace and Ann's Diner in Florida for over (20) years. She had a talent of making a gourmet meal out of merely nothing. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, gardening and always kept a vegetable garden.

Ruby was a beautiful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and would do anything she could to help anyone in need, even the homeless. She had a knack for being a stylish dresser and knew how to wear a hat, it came somewhat natural for her. As a member Jerusalem Holiness Church, Ruby served on the Mother Board for many years until she was called into the Ministry. As a lifelong, faithful and dedicated member she made many contributions to the different ministries within the church, always having a Word from the Lord. Ruby had a special love for her Pastor, Elder Dr. Terrance Pender. Because she was reared, grounded and rooted in God's word, she knew the power of prayer and praise. She always encouraged the Great Commission of going out to recruit disciples. Her door was always open for prayer, a good meal or whatever you were in need of at that time. Ruby was a woman of wisdom; she prayed without ceasing which contributed to her life's longevity.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Lloyd Sr. and Mary Hamilton; her husband of 69 years, Henry Lawrence Hannans; her stepfather, Elder Dellie Hoskie, Sr.; her children, Carolyn Ruby Hannans-Green, John Earl Hannans and Horace Hannans; three brothers, Willie Clemons, Lucious Hamilton and Lloyd Hamilton, Jr. and two sisters, Ora Bostic and Gertrude Belton.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her children, Henry (Linda) Hannans, New Haven, Connecticut, Harold (Ethel) Hannans, Connie Smith, Richard (Etoria) Hannans, Cherylin Admin, Donvell Hannans and Rose Mary Hannans, all of Folkston, Ga.; a brother, Don (Vivian) Hamilton; one sister, Mary Hamilton, West Haven, Connecticut; her stepbrother, Eddie Hoskie; sisters in-law, Mary Francis and Shirley Hamilton, all of Sarasota, Fl.; her god children that she helped to raise, the late, Nathaniel Hannans and the late, Addie Lee Sweets, Ella Mae (Thomas) Smiley, Folkston, Ga., Georgia Pearson, New Haven, Connecticut; two grandchildren that she raised for several years, Donvell Chris Hannans and Nicholas O'B Hannans; (16) grandchildren; (26) great grandchildren; her youngest prayer Warrior, Noelle Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowful friends.

There will NOT be a wake/visitation. Remains will lie in state one hour prior to services on Sunday.
