Ruby Pearl Martin

Ruby was born on March 9, 1925, at the family home on East Adoue Street in Goose Creek, Texas, to Pearl Dora Stenzel and Reubin Claude Tillery. She graduated from Robert. E. Lee High School in 1943 and married Joseph Dave martin during World War II. They were married for 66 years until his death in 2009.

Ruby worked in her yard, kept house, and raised her three children. She had a beautiful yard, and a year round thriving vegetable garden. She was a wonderful cook and hand made much of her family's clothing. The best chocolate and coconut merengue pies you ever tasted came out of her Chambers Range oven.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. Tillery Sr. and Pearl Tillery, her loving husband, J.D. Martin Sr., her son, Eugene Paul Martin, her grandchildren, Marilyn Maureen Martin Baugh and Cody Nelson, her brother and sister-in-law, R.C. Tillery Jr. and Opal Tillery, and her nephew, Ray Tillery.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Ruby Martin of Gruene; her son, Sonny Martin and wife Janice of Baytown; her grandchildren, Gregory and Charlie Martin of Baytown, Sunny Giangrosso of High Island, Bill Bardin of Lubbock, Kris and Raul Benevides of Dallas, Vicki and David Bank of Greune, Joshua and Maura Baugh of Houston; her great-grandchildren, Allison and Kevin Turcios of Little Rock, Joya Kaye and Mary Giangrosso of High Island, Darian Nelson of Tyler, Allisa Bardin of Lubbock, Beto and Ava Benevides of Dallas; and one great-great-grandchild, Ruby Turcios of Little Rock.

A funeral service for Ruby will take place Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 am inside the mausoleum of Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.
