Elimar Horstmann III, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at his home in
New Caney, TX. His life was one of strength, resilience and deep care for those around him, and his memory will continue to bring warmth to the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Elimar was born on February 18, 1955 to Betty and Elimar (Buddy) Horstmann, Jr. in
San Antonio, TX. He was the little brother to his 2 sisters, Kaye and Deborah. Childhood adventures and light-hearted mischief bonded him closely with his sisters, many cousins and friends creating treasured memories that remained close to his heart forever.
His early years were spent in school, on Little League baseball fields, playing golf with his Dad and in church. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High school in 1973 and then attended Southwest Texas State University where he earned his BA degree in Business.
During his working years, Elimar had experience in several different fields. He worked in the oil fields on derricks while attending college in San Marcos. After college graduation he sold security systems in Dallas. Later he moved back to San Antonio where he sold real estate and worked as a Claims Inspector doing home inspections and repairs. Then he found his true calling in becoming a Land Man, securing leases for oil drilling sites throughout Texas. He loved working and visiting with land owners while negotiating their leases.
Elimar's passions in life were travel and adventure, closely followed by playing golf, snow skiing, fishing, snorkeling and the sport of baseball. His travel adventures included the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii and almost every state in the U.S.
Elimar was a man of honor and integrity with values shaped by his personal faith. He was known for his willingness to always go above and beyond for the people he loved. His life was not defined by grand gestures but by steady acts of kindness and generosity for his family and friends.
He is survived by his two sisters, their spouses and four nephews and their families:

Weston and Tara Langerhans, Watson and Violet, San Angelo, TX
Clay and Miranda Langerhans, Austin, TX
Deborah and Bobby Schmidt of
San Antonio, TXBrad and Cayla Smith, Carson and Stella, Prosper, TX
Kyle and Mary Marshall Smith, Annabelle, Mary Wesley & Margot Fort Worth, TX
Elimar is also survived by numerous long time special friends, work colleagues, golf buddies and very caring neighbors in
New Caney, TX.
Elimar passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, joining his parents Buddy Horstmann, Betty and Paul Chenoweth and many aunts, uncles and beloved cousins.
Elimar's ashes will be interred in the Stonewall Community Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Peach Country RV Park Hall, 14781 E. US Hwy 290, Stonewall, TX 78671.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Elimar's memory to the following: The

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a
charity of your choice.
