Ruby T. Stephenson, our mother, was 94 years old, living in Tacoma WA when she passed away on November 1, 2022. Ruby was born on September 26, 1928 to Mary Fee and Lewis Farmer in Harlan, Kentucky. She was an educated woman who had 5 children; Raymond Hair, Randy Hair, Debbie Almont, David Woskow and Donna Woskow.
She was a strong and capable woman with a loving heart. She raised her children to believe in equal rights for everyone, and fought to preserve our natural resources. Ruby lived in many lifetimes, having experienced a multitude of era's that left her with memories she loved to share with family and friends. She was the type of person who, if she saw a need, did not hesitate to help or give something of herself to others.
She was a fierce advocate for women's rights, and taught us that we could be anything we wanted. She would do anything for the pursuit of education. She believed that education was the utmost importance if we are to be self-reliant.
We are who we are because of our mother, and we owe her everything. She was our best friend. We would go to have coffee and complain about our lives together. Talk on the phone forever. Share our secrets and our worries. Most of all, she was our mother and will be greatly missed.
