Ruby Lee Strobl, 89, of Webster (previously of Phoenix AZ) passed away on November 15, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life.
She was born on May 6, 1935 in Rocky Mount NC to Ellie Clyde Taylor-Dickens and Marvin "Buster" Dickens. In 1954, Ruby married Albert Strobl. During their 38 years of marriage they had two daughters: Deborah and Patricia. She also cared for many pets as her children.
Ruby loved being surrounded by family, friends, and her pets. She especially loved holiday gatherings. Everyone who visited, particularly during the Christmas season, was treated to her extensive decorations -- almost every piece with a story of its own. When Ruby wasn't entertaining, she was always ready for a trip to the casino where she could sit endlessly, and usually win, at the slots.
Ruby was predeceased by her parents, her husband Al, her children Debbie and Patty, and many brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her brother, Rudy (Lorrie) Dickens, nieces, Shirl Berardi, Mary (Robert) Graham, Angeline (Azzie) Harrison, Sandra McLean and Barbara Patskin; nephews, John (Rosemary) Albergo, John Iocolano, David McLean, and Gerald (Maryann) Szalanski; great-nieces Michelle (Christopher) Czachorowski, Adrienne Graham, Alexa Harrison and Jeanette Szalanski; great-nephews Jared Graham, Jake Patskin, Sammy Patskin, Michael Ruiz and Gerald Szalanski, Jr; great-great-nephews, Chase, Kye and MJ Czachorowski; many cousins; and her beloved cat, Rochelle.
A special thank you to Ruby's extended family including Timothy (Darryl) Macaluso, and Nancy (Bruce) Winters.
There will be a private graveside service. Please take a moment to celebrate Ruby's memory in your own ways, which may include dropping a couple of dollars into a nearby slot machine, or caring for an animal in need.
