(Gasport) Ruby L. Sweeney age 76, passed away at Sisters of Charity Hospital, November 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 1, 1948, in Medina, a daughter of the late Maurice and Dorothy (Deeter) Thiel and had lived in this area all her life.
Ruby could fix or build anything and was the 2nd skilled trade woman at Harrison Radiator where she had worked for many years and retired from. She enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, bargain shopping, cooking and going to the casino. Most importantly, Ruby loved spending time with her family, especially family vacations on the lake.
In addition, to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Ruth (Norman) Montague; brother Richard Thiel; cousin Rita Vanderwalker.
She is survived by her daughters Darcy (Fred Stamm) Sweeney, Kelly Sweeney, Krista Sweeney; granddaughter and apple of her eye, Cassidy Granchelli; sister Betty (Terry) Leonard; niece and nephews Dave (Debbie) Melius, Bruce (Roxinne) Montague; her best friends for over 50 years, Pat Myers, Helen Ferris, Diane Ward as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St., Gasport, Sunday December 8th 12:00pm-3:00pm where her Memorial Service will follow at 3:00pm. Memorials may be made to the Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Rd., Niagara Falls NY 14304.
