Ruby Lillian Stewart Tart, age 79, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025 at the Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.
She was born on February 21, 1946 in Harnett County and is preceded in death by her mother, the late Pauline Stewart, and her husband, Jerry Tart.
Loved ones left to cherish her memory include son, Jeremy Tart and wife, Holly, of Mamers, NC; son, Jonathan Tart and wife, Sarah, of Coats, NC; daughter, Tammy Johnson and fiance, Jay Ward of Shallotte, NC. Nine grandchildren, Cheyenne Tart-Sladek, Hunter Stefinsky, Lenny Rae Holland, Kaedyn Tart, Raylon Tart, Michael Johnson, Tristan Johnson, Alivia Brunson, and Kadence Ward. Two great grandchildren, Gryphon Tart-Sladek and Aurora Tart-Sladek. Also one brother, Jerry Stewart and wife, Susan, of Erwin. Ruby suffered several miscarriages in the early years of marriage, but the Lord blessed and finally gave her and Jerry three special children.
Ruby was very talented, especially with her hands, and often created beautiful works of art - on paper (sketching), on canvas (painting), or with fabric. Her great love was sewing and she was a very skilled seamstress. Her favorite clothing to make was a wedding dress and always customized it specifically for the bride. When she could no longer sew, she worked at Walmart for a while. When her husband, Jerry, developed Alzheimers, she cared for him fulltime. After he passed, Ruby poured her time and attention into her grandkids and great grandkids. Family was very important to her.
Ruby Lillian Tart was greatly loved and will be dearly missed but always remembered.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 from 6:00-8:00PM at Dunn Funeral Home in Erwin. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 10:00AM at the Erwin Memorial Park Cemetery.
