Rubye “Doris” Brown, 84, of Bonaire, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Doris was born on May 12, 1941, in Fort Valley, Georgia, to the late Rupert and Lurlene Poole Forehand.
She was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church, where she faithfully taught Sunday School for 40 years and joyfully sang in the choir. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived her life.
Doris worked at Belk, where she was employed for ten years. She then worked at Robins Air Force Base for 19 years before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, warm spirit, and the friendships she built throughout the years.
In her free time, Doris loved to shop and had a special fondness for collecting teapots. She treasured time spent with her family, whom she loved dearly. Her kindness, gentle heart, and unwavering faith will be remembered by all who knew her.
Doris leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Gary Brown, parents, Rupert and Lurlene Forehand, her brother, Donnie Ray and sister, CorrieAnne Benton.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her children, Pattie Brooks (Isaac), Lisa Miller (Rob) and Lee Brown (Rebecca), six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, her sister, Margie Biglane (Raymond), along with a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, February 27, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Second Baptist Church. Afterward, Doris will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
