Rudolph Salvatore Bruno, 88 of Indiana, PA, entered the presence of the Lord with his loving family at his side, following a courageous struggle with multiple health issues over the past few years, but most recently, a heart attack, on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Rudy's life journey began on November 16, 1935, in Beyer, PA as the son of Marianna DiFranco and Vincent Bruno. A 1954 graduate of Marion Center High School, Rudy enlisted in the US Army where he proudly served his country from 1954-1957 during the Korean War Era. Rudy worked at Fisher Scientific in Indiana, PA from 1958-1998 where he made life-long friends.
On July 6,1957, Rudy married Gertrude Liscinsky of Ernest, PA and always maintained that she was the best thing that ever happened to him. We believe that match to be pre-destined as he was born on the feast day of Saint Gertrude the Great. Family was most important to Rudy and Gert whose home was the center of countless family gatherings always filled with laughter, great meals and an abundance of love. They were blessed with four children: James (Sheree) Bruno, Marianne Cubeta, and Christina Bruno. Their youngest daughter, Rebecca, died as an infant in 1969. A loving and influential grandfather to Sara (Justin) Aion, Daniel (Brandy) Bruno, PJ (Maura) Cubeta, Erin (Brian) Bernhardt, and Gregory (Kate) Davis, Jr., Rudy also enjoyed his great-grandchildren: Harper, Brynn, Bailee, Lena, Stella, Bowen, Morrigan, Sebastian, and Aria. Like daughters to him were Barbara Louis and Jan Foister.
In addition to the many fun times that he had with "The Fisher Boys" over the years, Rudy loved playing ball with "The Beyer Boys," participating in Spaghetti Dinners and Ox Hill Fair Hot Sausage Fundraisers for the Plumville Lions, volunteering at the Indiana County Historical Society, and all things Civil War. In 1992, Rudy became the bass drummer for the 105th PA (Wildcat) Regiment Band where he was able to create memories and friendships of a lifetime. Rudy was proud of his Italian ethnicity and Beyer roots; he put great effort into genealogy research, collecting family artifacts, and preserving family traditions. He cherished every moment he had with family and friends.
Rudy had many nicknames: "Tenny Bruno," "Uncle Teen," "Rudy Begonia," and his newest and most proud title, "Pops." His grand and great grandchildren were his treasures, the pride and joy of his life, his coloring, sports, craft and dance buddies. Pops enjoyed every moment he got to spend with them making beautiful memories.
As the last surviving member of his immediate family, Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, in-laws, daughter, siblings, Carlo, Bruce, Margaret, Rose, and Yolanda, son-in-law Pete Cubeta, all his brothers and sisters-in law, as well as many extended family members and friends.
Family and friends will be received at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home in Indiana, PA on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 3 to 7 PM as well as from 9 to 9:30 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. As a devoted Roman Catholic, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, with interment to immediately follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
Rudy's family wishes to thank the wonderful loving caregivers and staffs of Rose Haven, 365 Hospice, Anew Home Health, IRMC, and his many private caregivers (most recently Bonnie and Joan), EMEs of St Bernard and the many family members and friends (especially Denny) who spent time with him over the years. A special "thank you" is extended to granddaughter Erin for her love and palliative care. As he concludes his Earthly journey and enters the Heavenly Kingdom, Rudy would probably say, "It was a wonderful life."

My favorite memory with Rudy: One night, he had gotten up by himself to use the restroom. We had told him on more than one occasion that he needed to wait for assistance going to the bathroom. Well this particular night, we had just finished doing rounds when I heard a shuffling sound. I went to investigate, and there he was scooting his rollator across the floor. I got him back into his bed, and he said to me that he didn't want to be alone. I asked him if he wanted me to pray with him. He said yes, and after I finished praying, he was fast asleep.

Mr Rudy and I worked together for a decade at Fisher, he taught me a lot about press set up, was always kind and patient. My wife still remembers his fine dancing skills at the wonderful country club Christmas parties! Blessings to all and our condolences. Larry Kingsley and family
