Rudolph "Rudy" W. Prate, age 84, was born on July 15, 1940 in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey to Ralph and Verta Prate. He passed away peacefully in the arms of hs loving wife, Madonna Sue Prate on March 4, 2025 in Port St. Lucie, Florida after a short illness. His son and granddaughters were nearby.
Rudy graduated from Morristown High School in Morristown, New Jersey in 1958 and went on to complete Barber School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rudy and Madonna fell in love and married on July 13, 1963. They had two wonderful boys, Ralph Joseph and Daniel Vincent Sr. Prate. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and were so blessed to have such a long dance. He was the love of Madonna's life. Rudy owned "Rudy's Barber Shop" in Maple Shade, New Jersey for 16 years before moving to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey to become the Owner/Operator of the Sea Horse Motel Apartments and the Owner of the Sea Horse Lawncare. He also owned property in Virginia and Kentucky. After retiring, the Prate family moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Rudy was predeceased in death by his son, Ralph Joseph, his parents, Ralph and Verta and siblings, Marie and Michael. He is survived by his loving wife, Madonna Sue Prate, son, Daniel Vincent Prate Sr., 7 siblings, 7 grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations payable to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Funeral services will be held in Florida.
