Ruel Christensen passed away at home on May 28th, 2025. He met his sudden battle with pancreatic cancer with the same quiet strength, determination, and sense of humor that he carried through his whole life.
Ruel, the son of Vince and Inez Christensen, grew up in Moroni, Utah. He graduated from North Sanpete High School where he met Beverly Mickel, and they were married on July 11th, 1963, in Spring City, Utah. Later they were sealed in the Manti Temple. Together, they raised four children: Jeff, Pam, Lisa, and Debbie.
Ruel was drafted and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He worked at the Moroni Processing Plant as the head of the refrigeration department. He also spent several years as a sheep shearer. When he retired, he farmed his father’s farm. Ruel had a lifelong love of archery and bowhunting. Even as his health declined, he found ways to adapt to new challenges and continue shooting. For him, archery wasn’t just a personal hobby, it was something he enjoyed sharing with others. He introduced friends and family to his favorite sport, and over time, the family organized their own annual archery shoot with a group of archers, friends, and family who call themselves “Ruel’s Herd.
Ruel also shared his love of archery with the local community. He was a founding member of the Top Notch Archery Club, and helped build the Moroni Archery Range where he loved volunteering at the 4th of July Archery Shoot. He loved serving and honoring his country and was an active member of American Legion Post 107.
Ruel was a loving husband, father and grandfather who made strong connections with each of his grandchildren.
Survived by his wife Beverly, children Pam (Alan), Lisa (Chris), Debbie (Tom), nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Vince, his mother Inez, brother Merlin, two sisters Joyce and Carol and his son Jeffrey Dee
