Wilks Funeral Homes - ChubbuckIt is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Ruelon DeWynn Jenkins, fondly known as “D.J.” On Thursday, August 7th, 2025 the family and community lost a cherished father, husband, grandpa, great-grandpa, friend, teammate, mentor and so much more, following complications during a surgical procedure.
D.J. was born June 25th, 1960 in Blackfoot, Idaho to parents Dudley Jenkins and Evelyn (Sorensen) Jenkins. He lived his young life with his parents and siblings in the Magic Valley area of Idaho before moving to Pocatello, Idaho in 1990. D.J. and his siblings were instilled with strong work ethics from young ages, and they lived as a humble family unit who saw its fair share of struggles. Like his brothers and sisters, D.J. learned a wide variety of skills that would serve him well in life and would have him considered a jack of all trades by many. From his upbringing, he also carried with him a love for family and friends that never wavered.
D.J. was known as a hard-working, giving, tough, fun-loving man who never forgot to bring a joke, a big voice, an infectious smile and plenty of laughter, usually topped with bold spices and a side of stubbornness. He was often the life of the party; he could be heard above most around him and wasn’t too shy to sing out loud, something his family loved hearing. He was the guy everyone wanted to be around due to his bright, warm aura and his ability to make those around him feel like family. D.J. was an essential part of running the family business, Kimberly Nurseries/All Seasons Sprinklers and Landscaping, and he took pride in building lasting relationships with clients, teaching his peers and serving the community to provide quality work. Outside of his profession, he loved spending time with his family, enjoying the company of his kids and grandkids. D.J. liked golfing, softball, horseshoes and most impromptu sporting activities he could get in on, and he enjoyed his Sunday football. He made a plethora of friends from all walks of life along his way.
D.J. was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Tauna, Ralph, Rhonda and Les and by his stepson Kord. He is survived by his wife, Kimm, former wife Vicki, brother Kolen, children Nick, Brooke and Ashlee, stepchildren Janika, Kolan and Kaleb, 5 grandchildren, and 8 step-grandchildren.
We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and condolences we have received from the family, friends and community members D.J.’s life touched, and it is clearer than ever that he was so very loved and treasured by many.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, ID. An open house will be held prior beginning at 1:00 pm.
