J.D. Rush left this earth for heaven on Sunday, August 14th. He was a resident at Southern Plaza Assisted Living Center in Bethany, Oklahoma. Services will be Thursday, August 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ s Legacy Church with Rev. David Brooks officiating. Graveside service will follow at the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Home.
J.D. was born in El Reno, Oklahoma June 18, 1930 to Lloyd and Geneva (Bruner) Rush. He retired from F.A.A. where he worked as a Printing Specialist. Prior to his employment with the federal government, J.D. worked for local newspapers in Guymon, Fairview, and Watonga, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Christ s Legacy Church, which was formerly known as Putnam City Assembly of God and Parkview Assembly of God, since the 1960s. He also attended Bethany First Assembly of God. J.D. was a member of the Roadrunners Camping Club for many years. He was a devoted husband and father. In 1951, he married Evelyn (Watts) Rush, who preceded him in death in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tommy, Everett, Bill, and Richard Rush; sisters, Sharon Rush, Janice Brown, and Patsy Detamore. J.D. is survived by his wife, Lucille (Geurin) Rush to whom he was married in 1998; son, Dathan Rush and wife, Sarah, of Morganton, North Carolina; Lucille s three sons, Jerry Geurin and his wife, Susan, Donnie Geurin and his wife, Pam, and Gregg Geurin; his brother, Jim Rush and wife, Wanda, of Independence, Kansas; sister-in-law, Reba Anderson of Knoxville, Tennessee; Lucille s grandchildren and great grandchildren, Emily, Christopher, Tim, Caroline, Jack, and Jane; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staffs of Good Shepherd Hospice and Southern Plaza Independent and Assisted Living Centers.
Christians live their lives in preparation for the day they will see their precious savior, Jesus Christ, and reside with Him in heaven for eternity. J.D. s life on earth is finished and now he is rejoicing with his Lord, reuniting with the family members and friends who have gone before him, and awaiting those who will follow once our work on earth is done.
