Born on May 14, 1930, in Ashe County, NC, he was the son of the late Lillard and Ethel (Roop) Greer.
Russel moved to Pennsylvania when he was 14 to help on his brother-in-law's farm. He worked as a farmer all of his life and also performed carpentry work and built houses with James Tucker and Bill Morris.
He is survived by his children, Granville Greer, of New Providence, Ruth Rogers, of Sarasota, FL, and Susan Greer, of Peach Bottom, a grandson, William Greer, of Peach Bottom, and his two buddies, Olive and Diesel. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steve Rogers, and seven siblings.
Traditional interment will be private at Little Britain Presbyterian Cemetery.
