VINTON: Russell Faye Alpers, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Windsor Manor in Vinton.
Private family graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
Russell was born on June 28, 1938 in Vinton, the son of Henry and Mabel (McItyre) Alpers. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton and furthered his education in cosmetology school.
Following school, Russell practiced his trade in Davenport, and later lived in Florida and Arizona, before returning to Vinton in 2017 to be closer to his family. In his leisure, Russell enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his 2 brothers-in-law, Donald Wilhelmi of Atkins, and Orville Schrage of Vinton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Roy Alpers, Lester Alpers, Harold Alpers, and Stanley Alpers; and 5 sisters, Lucille Cole, Ruth Lyons, Mildred Fowler, Mae Wilhelmi, and Joann Schrage.

Russ was a great friend when I lived in Davenport. He was a very fun loving guy and we managed to get in a little trouble once in awhile. Rest in peace, Russ.
