Russ had a deep passion for learning and excellence. He began his higher education at Whitewater State University in Wisconsin, later transferring to the University of Colorado at Boulder. After years of dedication, he earned a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Illinois.
Until his retirement at age 70, Russ worked for the Dallas Independent School District for many years. After retiring, Russell and his wife, Gloria, moved to McKinney where they spent many years raising cattle on their ranch in Wolfe City, playing bridge and spending time with family.
Russ remained very active playing tennis until he was 85. He also enjoyed giving treats to his dog Brandy, reading, cooking, and learning new technology.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Gloria Chadbourn.
Russ is survived by his loving children: Catherine Setzer (Larry), Lisa Milne (Josh Jordan), Roy Chadbourn (Stephanie), and Amy LaFontaine. He was a proud grandfather to Jake Setzer (Yvette), Zachary LaFontaine, Ricky Milne, Stevie Sepulvado (Paul) and Stasney Chadbourn.
