Russell "Renegade" Chrestman, 70, passed away in March 31, 2025 in Willis, Texas. Born November 19, 1954, in Washington, D.C., Russell lived a life of independence, loyalty, and devotion to those closest to him.
A proud Navy Vietnam veteran, he served his country honorably and carried that same unwavering sense of duty throughout his life. Known to many as "Renegade," Russell was a man of firm convictions who lived boldly and authentically.
Russell has had a strong and enduring partnership with his wife, Tracylynn "Sweetpea" Chrestman, for over thirty years. Their bond was rooted in mutual respect and fierce dedication. Russell watched over her with the same strength and care that defined his actions.
He was a devoted father to Scott Chrestman and a proud grandfather to Kaitlin and Conner Chrestman. His family remained close to his heart through daily prayers-a quiet but powerful expression of his enduring love.
At home in what he lovingly called "The Chrestman Retreat," Russell found peace and purpose. Though health challenges eventually kept him from traveling, he stayed connected with friends through heartfelt video messages reflecting his spirit's warmth.
Russell passionately embraced life-riding motorcycles with the wind at his back, playing virtual pool with precision, and enjoying lively games of Spades. These pursuits spoke to his vibrant nature and love for camaraderie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Claudine Chrestman, along with many beloved family members and friends who passed before him.
Russell's life will be celebrated on May 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Monte De Los Olivos Nuevo N. Church, 13779 Coaltown Rd., Willis, Texas.
A Freedom Ride in his honor is planned for Saturday, September 6, 2025; details will be announced later.
May the memory of Russell "Renegade" Chrestman continue to inspire all who knew him.
