Russell Flexer, 57, beloved Husband, Son, Father, and Papa, was called to his eternal resting place on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He entered this world on January 11, 1969, in Trenton, MI, the son of Ronald and Sylvia Flexer.
In October of 2003, he met his person, the love of his life Christine. Together, they created a blended family that will endure even in his absence.
He is survived by his wife Christine Flexer; Mother Sylvia Flexer; sons Dustin (Brandy Cady) Flexer; Darian (Leia Hastings) Flexer; and Robin Ligman Jr; daughter Samantha (Mitch) Russell; granddaughters Camille Flexer, Phynix Gordon, and grandsons Jayden and Andrew Nelson and Levi Cady.
He is also survived by his siblings, Cathy Calderas, Ronald Flexer Jr., Jennifer (Blake) Alexander, as well as his sister-in-law Teri Hunt, and brothers-in-law Mark (Robin) Schmidt and Steve (Karen) Schmidt, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Flexer Sr, father-in-law, Thomas Schmidt, mother-in-law, Patricia Schmidt, and brother-in-law, Ron Hunt.
He graduated in 1987, from Washington Community High School.
He worked at Caterpillar for the past 20 years as an inspector. Russell was passionate about video gaming and Dungeons & Dragons and was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also pursued 3D printing as a hobby. He cherished his family and loved his dogs, especially his boy Makoyi.
Russell and his wife are very grateful for the care provided by his doctors and the staff at OSF Cancer Institute & Illinois Cancer Care.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on 2 pm Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be one hour before the service, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
