Eileen Flexer

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Eileen Flexer on Monday, May 19th, 2025. Born in Kewanee, IL, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion.
Eileen and her husband, Don, shared 60 years of marriage and together raised three children Jeffrey Flexer (Mark), James Flexer (Jen), and Jessica Perry (Andy). She was blessed with four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. All survive. She is also survived by her cherished sister, Francie Poulsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Thelma Brewer.
Eileen had a unique ability to make everyone feel loved, always offering a kind word, warm hug, or listening ear. She took great joy in being a grandma, rarely missing a baseball game!
The heart of our family, Eileen put others first with unwavering love and support, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A woman of great determination, Eileen earned her RN license while raising three children, proudly stating, "I worked darn hard for that!" She spent many years caring for others while balancing the challenges of motherhood, inspiring everyone around her.
Eileen had a passion for travel, loved roses, and had a special fondness for black bears, all of which brought her joy and created lasting memories. She also had a deep love for the song Amazing Grace, which touched her heart deeply and will forever be associated with her memory. While we will miss her more than words can express, her love and spirit will remain in our hearts forever. Her memory will continue to live on in all of us.
We would like to express our deep gratitude for the exceptional care and support that Amy, Joyce, Cindy and Hallie from Willow Ridge Hospice gave to Eileen and our family.
A graveside service and celebration of Eileen's life will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 11am, with Fr. Stephen Willard will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul School, an institution that held a special place in Eileen's heart and where her family received their education.
