Russell Clyde Haymond, lovingly known to his family as "Boad" , was reunited with his loving wife of 52 years, Carol Ann Garbinsky Haymond, on January 7th, 2026. Boad was born March 1, 1945, in Kanawha Head, WV a son of the late William Ford and Lottie Oletha Isenhart Haymond. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Calvin Ford, Minter Claude, Ervin Carl, Allen Burl, Elmer Brooks, Jerry Mason, Ralph Edward, and Roger Leroy Haymond and two sisters, Reva Gay Riley Thornton and Reba Mae Riffle. Together Boad and Carol raised and are survived by five children, Richard Haymond (Dee Harper) of Wild Cat, WV, Barbara Haymond (Roger Tiffner II), of Buckhannon, WV, Raymond Riley of Leesburg, FL, Marisa Riley of Virginia Beach, VA, and Carla Riley (Steve Fraile) of Moncks Corner, SC. He was "Pap" to seven grandchildren, Benjamin Riley (Ashley) of Madisonville, LA, Steffanee Johnson of Moncks Corner, SC, Melissa Gibbons of Moncks Corner, SC, Tosha Sweet(Ryan) of Anchorage, AK, Mason Riley (Loren) of Ashland, OH, MaKyna Kancso (Robbie) of Buckhannon, WV and HenelyTiffner of Buckhannon, WV. He was "Great Grandpap" to 15 great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Russia, Reid, Rocco, Ryu, Remi,Malia, Ledger, Oakley, Astrid, Maverick, Hunter, Kaiden, Parker, and Gage. Also surviving are, two sisters-in-law, Norma Haymond of Buckhannon, WV and Joyce Haymond of Rock Cave, WV and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving extended family members. "Boad" was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965 as a Specialist Four (E-4) and served during Vietnam 66'-67'. He received the following during his service: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, One Overseas Bar, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), and Bronze Star Medal. After his term of service, "Boad" worked as a truck driver and retired in 2004 from Allied Systems after a 40-year career where he moved home to WV. He was an avid lover of 50's music, westerns, computers, tinkering with cars, watching his favorite football teams the Cleveland Browns & Cincinnati Bengals, fishing, hunting and spending time with family on the Haymond Bottom where he grew up. Family and friends will be received Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12 PM – 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 2 PM with Rev. Michael W. Wamsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery in Rock Cave, WV. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
