Russell Leeroy Howard, 76, of Hillsboro, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio.
Born May 11, 1948, Russell was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose life was marked by love, dedication, and a passion for tinkering.
Russell was married May 4, 1968 and enjoyed a remarkable fifty-six years of marriage to his beloved wife, Mallie Frances (Curtis), with whom he shared countless memories and adventures. Together they raised three wonderful daughters, Frances Denise (Donald) Leeth, Gale Rene (Darren) Fraley, and Amanda June (Jim) Cluff, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and resilience.
As a proud grandfather, Russell cherished his seven grandchildren, LeVette (Mark) Davis, Shyla (Dennis) Crabtree, Haley Leeth, Kelcie Pendleton, Vincent Leeth, Zachary Leeth, and Boden Leeth; and took immense joy in the arrival of his nine great grandchildren, Hannah, Aubree, Peyton, Kynlee, Holly, Harley, Rory, Grayson, and Wesley.
Russell was known for his love of tinkering, whether it was fixing things around the house or embarking on a new project. His creativity and resourcefulness inspired those around him, as he often shared his knowledge with family and friends.
He was also one of nine siblings, Barbara, Wayne (Romalue), Wanda Kay (Buddy), Ronald, Kathleen (Jim), Joe, Terry, and Rick (Pauline). Russell is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara, as well as his father, Roy, and mother, Dorothy. His strong family ties were a cornerstone of his life. Russell's Warmth and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Russell retired August 18, 2003 from Adena State Memorial in Chillicothe, Ohio where he maintained the mansion and property for over thirty years.
In accordance with Russell's wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. Instead, the family encourages all who knew him to remember him in their own special way.
