Russell L. O'Neil, known affectionately to friends and family as "Rusty," passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 26, 2024, in Andrews, Texas. Born on May 24, 1957, in Midland, Texas, Rusty's life was a testament to the joy and warmth he brought to those around him.
Rusty grew up in the heart of Texas, where he developed a love for the simple pleasures in life. He loved all his animals like children, and his passion for country and rock and roll music was only matched by his skill at the pool table and his love for fishing. Those who knew Rusty will fondly remember the countless hours spent in his game room with his wife and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and the occasional cut shot.
It was not uncommon to see Rusty cruising around town in his prized possession, a truck that matched his bass boat, both gleaming under the Texas sun. This matching set was not just a mode of transportation; it was a symbol of Rusty's pride and joy, and a beacon of his personality-bold, fun, and impeccably maintained.
Rusty was married to his wife, Barbara, for 37 years with whom he shared and raised their daughter, Kari Rainey, from Midland, Texas.
As we bid farewell to Rusty, we celebrate a life lived with genuine enthusiasm and an open heart. His presence could light up a room, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rusty leaves behind a legacy of joy, a treasure trove of memories, and a family that adores him.
As Rusty embarks on his final journey, he joins his parents, R.L. and Vivian O'Neil, and his sister LaQuita Lloyd. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara, his cherished daughter, Kari Rainey, sister Brenda Runyan of Midland, TX, and an extended family of friends and relatives who were blessed to know him. Though he may be gone from our sight, the melody of his favorite tunes and the ripple of the waters he so loved to fish will forever keep his spirit alive in our hearts.
