Russ was born on Monday, July 23, 1962, in Denver, Colorado. He was the first-born son to Neal and Marise (White) Silance. Russ grew up in Louisburg, Kansas and graduated from Louisburg High School with the class of 1980. While living in Louisburg, he was a member of the Louisburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Russ worked in the oil field trade for most of his life. He traveled the country for many years working as a pipefitter. Russ also worked as a construction project manager in Russia, Canada and most recently, the North Slope of Alaska.
He met the love of his life, Lisa Mohr, while on a two-week fishing trip in Alaska. Russ never left the state after he met his match. Russ and Lisa were married on Sunday, December 28, 1997, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they raised two boys, Quintin and Nick.
Those who knew Russ, knew his heart was twice as big as his imposing size. He never met a stranger, and his stories could make anyone crack a smile. Russ was a hard worker, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a tremendous knowledge of the construction industry and how to manage a jobsite. Russ enjoyed riding four-wheelers, deep sea fishing, watching hockey, smoking various meats on his Traeger and more than anything, spending time with his boys.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Marise Silance.
Russ is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lisa; sons, Quintin Mohr and Nick Silance, of Eagle River, Alaska; brother, Stan (Kim) Silance and their boys Brandon, Brad and Brett, of Louisburg, Kansas; sister-in-law, Twyla (Jim) Kleven and their children Kalli, Shawny, Tanner and Bailey, of Sarona, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Jim (Stacy) Mohr and their children Wyatt, Chase, Cheyenne and Kristen, of Flowery Branch, Georgia, as well as many extended family members.
