Russell Scott "Russ" Terrell

Russell "Russ" Scott Terrell, 69, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away at his home on July 26, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas.

Being in a military family, Russell travelled a great deal in his childhood. Alaska, France, Florida, and Missouri being just a few of those places. He finally made his home in Springfield, Missouri, amidst the lakes, trees, and rolling hills.

Russ worked in a variety of trades throughout his life, including construction, mechanics, security, and handyman work. His greatest joy, however, came from working outdoors. For many years, he owned and operated his own landscaping business, finding fulfillment in using his hands and being close to nature.

Russell will be remembered as someone whose soul belonged to an earlier era when life was simpler, slower, and more connected to nature. He would have loved living off the land, surrounded by open skies, forests, and quiet. He was also an avid reader and lover of the great outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, bird watching, and gardening. Though shy and reserved, he had a generous heart and looked for ways to help others, particularly when it involved working outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lee Terrell, his mother, Anita Clayton, and his brother, Neal Terrell.

Russell is survived by his sister, Lori Walters, and husband Craig; niece, Katie O'Donnell and husband Tyler, their children, Lucy, Laney, and London O'Donnell; nephew, Quentin Walters, his wife, Christina, their children, Ezra, Ellie, and Marlow Walters. He is also survived by close friends, Almeda Titus and her children, Shyloh Allen, Rex Dominick, and Roman Dominick.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at White Chapel in Springfield, Missouri.
