Ruth Ellen Atchley

Ruth Ellen Atchley, 71, of Greensburg, passed away at 10:04 p.m. on August 8, 2022 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was born on May 10, 1951 in Greensburg, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred (Fry) Schoettmer She was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and had graduated from South Decatur High School in 1969. She enjoyed flowers, sewing, and crafts. She loved spending time with her grandbabies. She married Gary C. Atchley on August 14, 1971 in Letts, Indiana and he survives. Other survivors include her daughters, Lori (Scott) Helms and Lisa (Greg) McNealy both of Westport; son, Mark Atchley (Rose Corbin) of Milroy; sister, Jean (Roger) Harrison of Westport; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Schoettmer. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Jeff Floyd officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until time of service at 6:00 p.m. Following Ruth's wishes she will be cremated following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Letts Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home.
