Ruth Barber

Ruth Elaine Barber, 81, formerly of Main Street, Westport, died Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the UVM Health Network in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Elizabethtown, July 13, 1943, the daughter of Edward and Ruth (Lewis) Barber. She graduated in 1962 from Westport Central School, and in 1966 she graduated from Champlain Valley School of Nursing as a RN.
Ruth worked locally as an RN, mostly in county nursing homes, with Clinton County Nursing Home being the longest. She did work for a brief time at the Altona Correctional Facility.
She was a member of D.A.R.
Ruth was a huge Elvis Fan, and also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Left to cherish the memory of Ruth are, daughters, Sabrina Robare, Larissa Robare, and Audra Robare; grandchildren, Shirreece Robare, Nicholas Robare, Chelcee Robare, Briana (Seth) Dykes, Zachary Wetmore, Landen Robare, Ronald Logan II, Amber Logan, and Rory Robare; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Mia, Ava, Nova, Ryker, Rayner, Ruth, Brody, and Ronald, III; siblings, Edith Hamilton, Jessie Sayre, and Earl (Donna) Barber; her "favorite" son-in-law, Dennie Westover; best friend, Patti Butler; and any nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Miller Frank brother and sister-in-law, Irwin and Joyce Barber; brothers-in-law, Eddie Viens, Harold Sayre, and Gene Hamilton; nieces, Betty Cross and Amanda Viens; and former husband, Bill Robare.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 4 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Westport Federated Church.
