Ruth M. (Kauffman) Blessing, 92, of York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of Richard B. Blessing, and together they would have celebrated 75 years of marriage on July 28th.
Born on August 24, 1932, in Dallastown, Ruth was the daughter of the late Ammon S. Kauffman and Daisy B. (Winkea) Kauffman. She was raised in Ore Valley and went on to attend nursing school in York, devoting her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the healthcare field.
A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Ruth's love for Jesus was the foundation of her life. She was also a gifted poet whose works were published, sharing her heart and faith through the written word. Ruth found joy in sewing, gardening, and spending meaningful time with her family, whom she loved dearly.
Ruth is survived by her three children: Vicki Miller and husband Joseph of New Oxford, Debra Blessing of York, and Ricki Blessing and wife Daeon of Lower Windsor. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Amy Baumler, Emily Glenn, Heidi Seymore, Kalam Blessing, Ashton Blessing, and Kendra Bartlet. Her legacy also lives on through her 15 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Braeden, Harley, Cameron, Chase, Cole, Elliana, Aubrey, Walter, Ruth, Gabriel, Micah, Myla, Rhowyn, and Quihl.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Vernon Kauffman.
A service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Church of the Open Door, 4075 E. Market Street, East York, PA 17402. Pastor Don Heindel will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Heiland View Cemetery in Red Lion.
