Ruth G. Cessna 87, of Rainsburg, died Monday, March 10, 2025 at her residence. She was born on October 26, 1937 in Imlertown, a daughter of the late Homer James and Frances E. (Imler) Keller. On July 8, 1958 in Winchester, VA she married William A. Cessna who preceded her in death July 4, 2000. She is survived by two children: Trudy Beegle and husband Terry, and James Cessna widower Julie, both of Centerville; 9 grandchildren: Jason Cessna, who was raised in her home, Aaron Beegle, Devon Beegle, Tara Beegle, Cory Beegle, Chelsea Cessna, Liam Cessna, Casey Cessna, and Sean Cessna; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Mark Cessna, widow Krista surviving of Bedford; and a sister.
Ruth was a 1955 graduate of Bedford High School. She worked as a secretary for the school district, was a telephone switchboard operator for the Bedford station, and helped in the family business, Cessna Brothers Butcher Shop. She served on the Rainsburg Boro Council, and enjoyed going to the grandchildren's sporting events.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Sharon Riley officiating. Burial at Woods Church Cemetery. Friends will be received on Saturday on hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
