Ruth Clark, RN, 68, of Lubbock, passed away on Friday evening, May 17, 2024. Ruth was born on July 12, 1955, in Durango, La Plata County, Colorado, to the late Vernon Daniel Smith and Ilene (Mccleve) Smith.
She attended school in Carson, Iowa. Ruth went on to nursing school and received her degree in nursing to become a Registered Nurse. After nursing school, she moved to Lubbock to work for Lubbock General Hospital (now University Medical Center). She held positions, administratively, in the Trauma Center, Burn Unit and OB/GYN. Following her many years of nursing at the hospital, she went to work for the Lubbock State Supported Living Center (formerly the Lubbock State School), until her retirement in 2020.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include a son, Justin Clark of Lubbock; a brother, Blaine Smith of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sisters, Karen Jones and DeAnna Smith of Glenwood, Iowa; one grandchild; a very best friend, Kathleen (Kat) Pegues of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by a son, Evan Michael Clark and a brother, Neal Smith.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
