Ruth Charlene Coy, 91, of West Liberty, passed away at 6:32 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community in West Liberty. She was born in West Liberty, Ohio on August 25, 1933, to the late Ruth Hall, adopted and raised by Albert D. “Al” and Adah B. Anderson-Markin.
She married Robert E. Coy, and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2005.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Becky (Doug) Stolly of Celina; sons, Steve (Brenda) Coy of West Liberty, Shawn Coy of Hilliard, Lynne (Kim) Coy of Germantown, and Joe (Michelle) Coy of Marysville; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Tom King of West Liberty, and John Hall of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth graduated from West Liberty High School in 1951. She then attended Fort Wayne Bible College, where she studied music. Ruth was a faithful member of the former West Liberty United Presbyterian Church, now known as Cornerstone Faith, and contributed significantly by playing the organ and piano, which were among her favorite activities. Ruth was a dedicated Christian who steadfastly adhered to her faith. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Ruth had a passion for sewing and reading the Bible. She valued engaging with the residents of West Liberty and took pride in being a member of the West Liberty community. Ruth's presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 7, 2025, at the Cornerstone Faith of West Liberty, 215 W. Columbus Street, West Liberty. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10am to 11am at the church. Burial of Ruth’s cremains will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty.
