Ruth Emily Dilley, 92, completed her Earthly journey and was welcomed into her Heavenly Father's arms March 10, 2026, in St. Joseph.
Ruth was born in Berrien Springs, on July 26, 1933, to Bertha (Reis) and Henry Heimbuch. She was one of five children and would go on to reside in Berrien Springs her entire life.
Darwin Albert Dilley asked for her hand in marriage and he and Ruth were united in wedlock on July 30, 1951. Their family would eventually include three sons: Dennis, Gregg and Blake.
Hard work and determination were themes that prevailed throughout Ruth's life; and, although she tried her hand at a variety of jobs, it was her career as a Realtor that was most rewarding. She had a passion for assisting clients in the purchase of their first homes. Ruth was often recognized, even into her 90s, by former clients.
Ruth was an active and proud member of Berrien Springs Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid group until her health decline made it impossible to remain active. Her church family meant the world to Ruth and she likened herself as an elder historian. She could always be counted on to provide historical facts, dates and names whenever asked.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents: Bertha (Reis) and Henry Heimbuch; husband, Darwin Albert Dilley; son, Gregg Kevin Dilley and siblings: Henry Heimbuch and Esther Heimbuch Rough.
Ruth is survived by her two sons: Dennis (Lorraine) Dilley, Blake (Kimberly) Dilley; sisters: Irene Watson and Elaine Newman; grandsons: Tim Dilley and Rusty Dilley; and great-granddaughter, Winnie Elizabeth Darlene Murdoch. Additionally, Ruth will be missed and remembered by numerous family and friends.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9123 George Ave., Berrien Springs, MI 49103. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs in honor of Ruth. Arrangements entrusted to Heritage Chapel, 8747 U.S. 31, Berrien Springs, MI, 49103.
