Ruth Drewes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frederick Funeral Home on Nov. 14, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruth Ann Drewes, who departed from this world on November 12, 2025, at the age of 88. Ruth was born on January 19, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and spent her life as a beacon of kindness and was a servant to her friends, family and community.

Ruth was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond Drewes and late Martha (nee Hartmann) Nerl, and sister of Earl Drewes. Her warmth and spirit profoundly touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy of love and compassion. She is survived by her many loving cousins, nephews, a niece, friends, Marilyn Pitcher, Catherine Goldschmidt, June Keller, Julie Panyko (goddaughter), Mary Kay Hochhausler, Joe and Cathy Rizzo and all whose hearts she graciously filled.

A proud graduate of Our Lady of Angels High School in 1955, Ruth's passion for learning and development led her to a distinguished 34-year career at AT&T, where she served as a corporate trainer and recruiter. Her commitment to nurturing talent and fostering growth inspired countless individuals, leaving a lasting impact on the lives she touched.

Ruth's passion for helping others was evident in her many volunteer efforts. A devoted member of her community, she generously gave her time to organizations such as St. Clare Guild, Mercy Hospital Gift Shops, Twin Towers, and Jane Hoop Elementary. Each act of service was a testament to her generous heart, and her commitment to making the world a better place will be fondly remembered.

In celebration of her life, family and friends will gather for a Mass at Assumption Church on November 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with a visitation preceding the service at 11:00 AM. We invite all who knew Ruth to join us in reflecting on her extraordinary journey and to share in the stories of joy and laughter that she brought to our lives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ruth's name to EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Rd, Irondale, AL 35210-9768, a cause close to her heart.

As we celebrate Ruth's life, may we remember her unwavering faith and devotion to charity. Her steadfast belief in the power of love has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and her legacy will forever inspire us to be better to one another, just as she was to us. Rest in peace, dear Ruth; you are deeply missed.
