Of North Versailles, age 80, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 after a courageous and victorious battle with cancer.
Ruth Ann was the beloved wife of Robert Hornyak for 30 years.
She was the loving and devoted mother of Ricki (Kerry) Shearer of McKeesport and Dawn (John, III) Inks of Cranberry.
Ruth Ann was the precious grandmother of Rebecca Shearer, Michael Scott, Destiny Inks, Johnny Inks, Kathryn Hornyak and Sarah Hornyak.
She was the stepmother of Flora (Beau) Franzetta of North Braddock, Beth (Joe) Zmuda of Sewickley and Robert Hornyak of Fl.
Ruth Ann was also survived by her sisters, Emma Jean Cameron of Monroeville, and Leah Washington of North Versailles and her brothers, Daniel Schrecengost of Bloomfield and Tom (Deborah) Schmidt of Canada, and a close family friend, Vicki Hornyak.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Charles Schrecengost.
In her early career, and as a single mom, Ruth Ann was a bartender at various local establishments, a job that she truly loved. Later, she became an agent for Prudential and a care giver with Comfort Keepers. Her daughter, Dawn, 'grandma-napped' her from Comfort Keepers though, as Ruth Ann was needed to help raise her grandchildren. Ruth Ann was a fastidious home maker, keeping a clean house and cooking terrific meals. In her spare time, Ruth Ann enjoyed music and dancing, watching The Golden Girls, playing cards, and her favorite pastime was visiting the casino.
Ruth Ann was very devout in her faith and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
