ELLSWORTH
Ruth Frances (Vopat) Hulse passed from this life on January 20, 2025 at Brookdale in McPherson, KS at the age of 96 years old. She was born on December 28, 1928 in Emporia, KS to Arthur and Rosa (Stepanek) Vopat. Ruth graduated from Ellsworth High School Class of 1947. On June 12, 1949, she married Robert Hulse in St. Louis, MO.
Ruth loved people and was always active in her community as a member of the First Presbyterian Church, as a member of the choir, Mariners, Ash Creek Willing Workers, Red Hats, and very active with her husband, Robert, in the VFW as a member of the auxiliary.
For fun she loved to play cards and dominoes. Hosting Bridge Club was one of her favorite things to do. Always a competitor, she loved to win but never wanted it to show.
Robert and Ruth traveled extensively with friends and family and truly enjoyed their camper's club. Robert loved hunting rocks and fishing everywhere while Ruth did the cooking, kept her journal daily, and explored around the area visiting friends and making new ones at campsites, as well as planning games for the evening.
As a working wife she most enjoyed her nearly twenty years working for the USDA. She was always a farm girl at heart and loved working with people in her farming community.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, son Craig, and brother Louis Vopat. She is survived by her son Bobbie Hulse (Debbie) of McPherson, daughter Wendy Hutchison (Jay) of Eaton, CO, son Collin Hulse (Kerry) of Parkville, MO, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 9:30-11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Ellsworth First Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ellsworth First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth VFW Post 6485, or the Ash Creek Willing Workers, c/o, Parsons Funeral Home, PO Box 45, Ellsworth, KS 67439.
