Ruth Marie Irvin, 89, of Veedersburg IN, passed away 12:06 AM Saturday May 11, 2024 at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville, IN.
Ruth was born January 14, 1935 in Covington IN the daughter of Elvin Samuel “Sy” and Lula Myrtle (Hughes) Foley. She married Walter C Irvin October 18, 1975 in Veedersburg.
Surviving family include her husband Walter C Irvin, Veedersburg; three sisters, Roseanna Maust, Goshen IN; Marvel May Moore, Bedford IN; Linda Lou (Ted) Warfield, Veedersburg; three brothers, Elvin Samuel Foley Jr., Veedersburg; John Wesley (Lois) Foley, Coatsville, PA; Thomas Wayne (Faye) Foley, Noblesville, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Juanita Gillenwater, Shirley June Riley, and Amy Leah Furr.
Ruth graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1953. She was employed at GE in Danville IL; and was employed at RMC in Attica IN for 30 years prior to her retirement.
She enjoyed dancing in her younger years; she enjoyed going to yard sales around the area, always looking for a bargain. She also enjoyed playing cards at the Foley family gatherings, and for many years she had a large pot of coffee and Apple cake ready at 10:00 Sunday morning for whoever might stop by their house.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday May 18, 2024 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM Saturday and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at VA National Cemetery in Danville, IL at a later date.
