Ruth Ann Jones, age 102, of Columbus, Ohio, peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on January 21, 2026, at her residence on Lilley Avenue. She was born on October 23, 1923, to Richard and Mahalie King. Ruth was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, David R. Jones, on November 30, 1946. Together they shared 65 beautiful years of marriage and were blessed with four children: Beverly Kimball (Detroit), Cheryl Mathews, Gary Jones, and Tracey Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, David R. Jones; and her siblings, Ella Mae Cooper, Margie King, Johnny King(Mabel), Kerral "Bud" King(Gloria), William King Jr., Hazel Palms, and George Jones(Hattie). Ruth leaves to cherish her precious memories to her sister and best friend, Barbara Allen(James); her two sister in laws Lucy Ebenezer (Akron), Delores Reid (Akron); her four children; a host of grandchildren including Craig Kimball (Josie), Charles Kimball Jr., Camaryn Kimball, Cebriane Thomas, Ryan Roundtree, Shanica Jones, Arica Jones, Andre Jones, Kadie Jones, Anthya McClurkin (Rob), and D'Mya Clay; 30 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Ruth attended Columbus South High School and later retired from Sheraton and from being a professional housekeeper. She was baptized at Hosack Street Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in the Senior Choir, missionary, and the Exercise Ministry. She was an active member of a Women's Club and found joy in reading her Bible, completing word find puzzles, and traveling to Detroit, Akron, Virginia, and Las Vegas. She was especially known for her delicious hot stews and her warm, welcoming spirit. Her favorite tv shows were Jimmy Swaggart and The Family Feud. Ruth Ann Jones will be remembered for her strength, faith, dedication to family, and the love she poured into generations. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to her amazing daughter Cheryl Matthews for taking excellent care of her for 16 years. Special thanks to 360 Hospice nurses as well as OSU East hospital.
