Ruth Marie Kain (nee Brill) of Deptford, NJ died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 23, 2026. Age 95. Predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years Robert W.J. Kain. Loving mother of Maureen Underwood (Harry) of W. Deptford, Theresa Kain-Henry (Tom) of W. Deptford, Vincent Kain (Beth) of Glassboro, Julie McHenry (Pat) of Gloucester, Ronnie Kain-Beckett (Pat) of Deptford, Edward Kain (Cathy) of Somerdale, Marie Poloney (Adam) of Pitman and the late Robert J. Kain. Ruth was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with one more on the way. Also survived by her sister, Julie Rutherford and sister-in-law, Judy Brill and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ruth was a 1948 graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School. After attending the Camden Commercial School in 1949 she worked at Gimbel Brothers, Inc. as an executive secretary. After 3 years at Gimbel's Ruth married and raised 8 children. When her youngest started 1st grade Ruth went back to school part time, receiving an Associate's Degree from Gloucester County College in 1985 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Glassboro State College in 1990. Ruth became a certified social worker and dedicated her professional life to Guardian Adult Day Care Center and Newpoint Behavioral Health Care, retiring at the age of 80.

Ruth was a deeply spiritual person whose ecumenical prayer group, "The Voice of the Good Shepherd" met weekly in her home for over 45 years. Ruth was also a Eucharistic Minister at Most Holy Redeemer Church and for many years took communion to the homebound elderly and sick of the parish.

Ruth found beauty in God's creation every day. She loved sunsets and the four seasons. She loved the mountains and the shore and especially loved the ocean. Ruth was also an avid reader and loved to garden and hand stitch pillows.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing Wednesday, January 28, 10am to 11:45am at St. Mary's Church, 426 Monmouth St. Gloucester City, NJ 08030.

Mass of Christian Burial 12pm at the church.

Interment private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Msgr. Lucitt's Needy Children's Fund, PO BOX 87, Gloucester City, NJ 08030.
