William George Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home on Jan. 6, 2026.
William C. George, 82, of Williamstown, formerly of Washington Township, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, in the comfort of his daughter's home.

Beloved father of Kimberly (Joseph) Peacock. Loving "Pops" of Gerry, Jack, Joseph and Jamie. Dear brother of the late Frank George, Thomas Hilley, Timothy Hilley and Colleen Scanga.

Born in Camden, Bill graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School and served his country in the U.S. Army following graduation. He worked for Trap Rock Industries, Logos Neckwear in Paulsboro, NJ, and later in life, The Home Depot as an associate. Upon retirement, Bill joined Woodbury Country Club and could very often be found golfing throughout South Jersey. He loved a good game of golf with the company of a few friends.

Bill was an avid fan of Tiger Woods, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also took great pride in cheering on his grandsons in sports throughout grade school, high school, and college. Bill even became a lifelong Notre Dame fan at the age of 77. As much as he enjoyed cheering on his grandsons, later in life he enjoyed their company and bragging about them to anyone who would listen. Bill had to have his Dunkin' Donuts coffee daily and loved watching Mob documentaries or golf.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, January 9th from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at the Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home, 420 S. Main St., Williamstown. Funeral Services will follow at 11:30 AM. Inurnment with Military Honors will be held at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the caring and compassionate people at "Care Right There" Home Care. Most notably, the professional and kind Marium who enabled Pop to live a more fulfilling and dignified life in his final years.
