Ruth A. Kaley, of Windsor Township, passed into eternal life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Reading Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Charles S. Kaley. They were married at Jacob's Church on January 30, 1954 by Reverend Clarence Rahn. They recently shared their 70th anniversary while Ruth was in the hospital.
Born on September 18, 1934 in Lynnville, PA to the late Henry A. and Lillian A. (Dietrich) Hartman. Ruth was a 1952 graduate of Perry High School. She was employed at Globe Knitting Mills in Leesport and Wright's Knitwear in Hamburg for 40 plus years. In addition to her employment, Ruth was also a supportive military wife. She would bake and provide snacks to Charles' unit. She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Battalion Commander for providing "junk food".
Ruth was a lifelong member of Jacob's Church in New Tripoli, where she was baptized by Rev. Rahn on October 28, 1934. She was an active bowler for 50 plus years, 30 of which she served as the League Secretary. She also enjoyed traveling. After their retirement, Ruth and Charles traveled the country, including Alaska, and all of the Canadian provinces. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and doilies, and the gift giving for any and every occasion. Ruth loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, those left to cherish Ruth's memory are her sister, Florence Yerger, of Shoemakersville; her brothers: Richard (Bernice) Hartman, of Mohrsville, and David Hartman, of Leepsort; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Carl Hartman; and sisters: Jean Stoudt, Barbara Palm, and Helen Kline.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Jacob's Church,
8373 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA 18066, with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 40 S. 4th St., Hamburg, 19526.

Loving thoughts and prayers to Charles and family. Worked with Ruth at Wright's and knew her mostly thru our Jacobs Church family. I remember how she loved her search a word. She will be greatly missed by all. Love in Christ.
Lovingly, Barbara Rehrig

I'm so very sorry to read of Ruth's passing. My mother and I were part of Ruth's bowling team in Hamburg for many, many years. Most years as our team went to bowling tournaments, Charles was always our chauffeur, loading and unloading bowling balls and bags, and always sitting right behind our lane cheering us on. They liked to call me the "kid" because I was one of the younger women on the team. When I finally had my own child, I was also lucky enough to receive one of Ruth's crocheted baby afghans. I have many fond, funny memories with Ruth and Charles. My heartfelt sympathies to Charles and family.
