Michael L. "Mike" Scharf, 66, of Hamburg, passed away on August 5, 2025 at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. Born in Miami, Florida, Mike was the son of Morty and Caryl (Stern) Scharf. He was the loving husband of Beverly (Lydon) Scharf with whom he shared 30 wonderful years of marriage.
Mike was a graduate of Asbury Park High School. Throughout his life, he explored different careers, consistently finding joy in learning new skills. His last position was with Reading Hospital as a telephone operator.
Mike was a faithful member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Kutztown. He loved his congregation and served as an elder at Reading North, Hamburg, Leesport, and Kutztown.
An upbeat and positive person, Mike respected all people and endeared himself to others instantly. He was intelligent and enjoyed playing chess. Mike looked forward to spending time at the beach and boardwalk. A football and baseball fan, he was a supporter of the Eagles, Phillies, and Yankees.
In addition to his spouse, Mike is survived by his daughter, Sarah Brower (Addison), and his step-daughter, Tammy Brady. Also surviving are his step-grandchildren, Emily and Eric Brady, his siblings, Sherrie Rasmussen (Chirs) and Jeffrey Scharf (Lynne), his nieces, Lauren and Laila, and his nephews, Ian and Scott.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2:00pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 671 Noble St, Kutztown, PA 19530.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a memorial donation in Mike's name to his congregation at PO Box 50 Kutztown, PA, 19530.
