Ruth M. Litzinger, age 94 of Georgetown, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born September 20, 1931 in Sardinia, Ohio the daughter of the late Earl and Clara (Berry) Courts. Ruth leaves behind a remarkable legacy of compassion and dedication. A proud 1949 graduate of Sardinia High School, Ruth was an accomplished trombone player and a cherished member of the school band. During her formative years, she contributed to the family farm and developed a deep love for horses, particularly her beloved horse, Dolly. From a young age, Ruth exhibited a nurturing spirit as she cared for her father, who battled Parkinson's Disease. This early experience fueled her lifelong commitment to caring for others, which she embraced wholeheartedly in her professional life. Ruth took on the role of a nurse’s aide at Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio, where her compassion and dedication shone brightly. Recognizing her potential, she furthered her education in Columbus, Ohio, earning the title of Therapist Technician, a significant achievement that brought her immense pride. Ruth excelled in this new position, proving to be extraordinarily skilled in her work over the ensuing years. Her career included roles at various esteemed facilities: Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley, Locust Ridge Nursing and Health Care near Williamsburg and Meadowood Nursing Home, as well as the Villa Georgetown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Georgetown. In these roles, she found great fulfillment in witnessing the improvement of her patients. Additionally, she served at the Girls Home in Georgetown before her retirement, ultimately transitioning to private care. Family was the cornerstone of Ruth's life. Her children were of utmost importance to her and she dedicated herself to being a constant presence in their lives. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she cherished the opportunity to watch them grow, attend their events and share in their love. A devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church, Ruth’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her unwavering love for her family and the kindness she extended to everyone she encountered. Ruth's legacy of care and devotion will continue to inspire those who knew her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years – John Litzinger in 2015, one son – Richard Mullins in 2023 and two sisters – Alverda Guillermin and Eileen McCall.
Mrs. Litzinger is survived by two children – April Ruth Mullins of Cold Spring, Kentucky and Alan Randy Mullins of Georgetown, Ohio; three grandchildren – Gregg Mullins and wife Tammy of Georgetown, Ohio, Shana Mullins and husband Justin Sears of Cincinnati, Ohio and Quinton Mullins of Ripley, Ohio; five great grandchildren – Ashley and Austin Mullins, Peyton Mullins, Nolan Sears and Maxwell Mullins; one niece – Melody Moore of Cincinnati, Ohio, one nephew – Ronnie Guillermin of Sardinia, Ohio and one cousin – Kenneth Snider of Sardinia, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown. Ohio. Dan Pelzel will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Arnheim, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Shriner’s.
