Ruth D. Manneback (nee Becker) passed away peacefully at her home in Toms River, NJ on January 13, 2025 at the age of 98 years old. She was born on September 18, 1926 in Yonkers, NY to William Edward "Ed" Becker and Josephine Becker (nee Burkhardt).
After attending the High School of Commerce, she began her career as a teller at the National City Bank of New York. She married the love of her life, Charles J. Manneback, Sr. ("Chick") just days after a historic blizzard in New York City in 1947.
After the birth of their children, they moved to Bogota, NJ. Working as a bookkeeper, Ruth operated the NCR machine at the North Jersey Suburbanite newspaper. She managed the accounts receivable there before retiring to Lanoka Harbor, NJ. After the death of her husband, she moved to Toms River.
Ruth was a long-time member of the Bogota VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Her membership in the Wives of the US Submarine Veterans of WWll organization also spanned many years, reflecting her pride as the spouse of a Navy veteran. She found joy and friendship in attending many of their annual conventions over the years. While still living in Lanoka Harbor, she met her long-time companion James "Jim" LoCascio.
Ruth was a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother who was always there when needed the most to offer her support, wisdom, and love, because family was Ruth's greatest joy. She loved shopping, whether for herself or others, and she took great pride in always looking her best.
Ruth is survived by her three children, Barbara Julian, Charles J. Manneback, Jr and his wife Karen, and Janet Avon and her husband Arthur. She leaves her loving grandchildren, David Julian and his partner Drew Eriksen, Christa Scott and her husband Tim, and Catherine Bird and her husband Kyle. She was also blessed with three great grandsons, Lucas, Brody, and Charlie, who brought her tremendous joy. In addition to being predeceased by her husband Chick and her companion Jim, Ruth was also predeceased by two grandsons, Sean Avon and Kevin Manneback, whose deaths too soon and only six months apart, broke her heart. Ruth's long journey has ended, but her family will always carry her memory in their hearts.
In accordance with her wishes, Ruth's life will be celebrated with a private family viewing, followed by a service and burial at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
